History of Folklore
Research in Latvia
This overview
contains just a selection of years when something important was
done in folklore research. In a number of cases the persons who
performed the activities were not aware that they have contributed
to folkloristics, as in that time there was no field of research
under that name, still their work was valuable for scholars working
centuries later.
Of course, the dates chosen here are
not the only important ones, in fact everyone of us would choose
a somewhat different set. But this selection will give you at
least some idea of what this history is like.
