Karlis Bukums The collection of Karlis Bukums
(on the picture to the left, photographed around 1912, in Strenci,
near Valmiera) has around 18,000 items,
and although there are only 11 photographs in his collection,
all of those are really interesting. They all are printed on a
postcard format hard paper, with the lines on the back obviously
meant to be sent as postcards. Author has described the images
on these backsides. Most of the images are dated with the year
1925, so these are earlier than most of Melngailis'
images. The collection of Karlis Bukums received the number
23 (out of more than 2000 at the moment being, so it was among
the first altogether.
The photos are subject to different processes over the course
of time, deteriorating them. Still use of technology can sometimes
help to render the image usable again.
