Possibly this edition was some kind of a response
to the folksong text edition published by the exile
Latvians in Copenhagen. In 1955 in Latvia the Institute of
Ethnography and folklore published a selection of folksongs. The
text classification in this edition was made deliberately different
from that in K. Barons "Latvju
Dainas" putting the social relations in the first place
(the first chapter in this edition is entitled "Bagatie un
nabagie" 'The Rich And The Poor'), followed by work songs.
There are three volumes altogether, each ending with a quite large
lexicon of specific words found in the song texts.
