Diligently collecting from the "mute
parishes", LFK acquires tens of thousands of song texts
from vitually all parishes and towns of Latvia. In 1936 the publishing
of the edition based on this material, entitled "Tautas dziesmas"
('Folksongs') was begun. As it could be expected the number of
songs from Latgale (eastern Latvia) is comparatively greater than
in "Latvju Dainas" .
To emphasise that this edition is just a continuation to "Latvju
Dainas", the numbering of texts starts at 35790
- the next number after the last in LD. The last number of song
type in this edition is 60080. The Barons' principle of text arrangement
is retained, although not all of Barons'chapters can be found
in this edition. A 20 page long folksong text lexicon is appended
to the edition, as well as articles on folksong-related issues.
